Links golf is a different game. The wind, the firm turf, the bump-and-run, the course management that rewards thought over power — none of it comes naturally to golfers who have spent their playing lives on parkland. Our PGA professional session is built specifically around the courses you are about to play. Not a generic lesson. Preparation for a specific round, on a specific course, in conditions you will actually face.
The session opens on the practice ground. Your PGA professional reviews each player's game — swing mechanics, short game, or course strategy, depending on what each person needs most. This is not a generic warm-up. It is a targeted review with the specific course in mind.
The pro plays the opening holes alongside your group — offering guidance in context. How to read the wind off the clubhouse flag. Where to miss on a sleeper-faced bunker hole. When to take the conservative line and when to attack. Practical advice at the moment it is most useful.
A short debrief covering the key takeaways for each player — written notes provided so nothing is forgotten by the 9th hole. Players continue their round with the professional available for questions throughout the day if they wish.

If your group has spent their playing lives on parkland or heathland courses, links golf will feel unfamiliar. A session before your first round transforms the experience from frustrating to exhilarating. Particularly valuable before Brancaster or Hunstanton.
Many golfers return specifically because they want to play these courses better. The session can be structured entirely around specific areas — course management at Brancaster, approach play at Aldeburgh, reading Hunstanton's greens.
A PGA professional session at the start of a society day adds a memorable and genuinely useful dimension to the format. The pro can also set up simple competitions around skills worked on in the session.
For visitors from the US, Australia, Europe or Asia playing links golf in England for the first time, the session provides essential context — the history, the tradition of the courses, and why links conditions produce a game unlike anything else in the world.
The PGA professional session can be added to any of our itineraries — the 3-night Long Weekend, the 5-night County Tour, the 7-night Two Counties, or the 10-night Grand Tour. It can also be booked as a standalone experience for golfers already in the area.
On the Grand Tour, we offer a two or three-session programme — one session focused on links play before the Norfolk courses, and a second focused on heathland strategy before Aldeburgh and Thorpeness. The most comprehensive way to experience both counties' very different demands.
Pricing is confirmed at the time of enquiry as it varies by group size, session length, and the course being played. Please mention the PGA pro session when you enquire and we will include it in your proposal.
